July 25th 1995 at the Classic Amphitheatre on Strawberry Hill/Richmond
I really don’t remember much about it. I was 16 and my
brother Micah went with me. It was his first concert, I think my third. I can’t
even remember how we got backstage. I think one of the sound guys recognized me
from the Spin Doctors concert. Kelly, the girl who took me to that had gotten
us backstage somehow. (don’t ask me how, who knows!) Anyway, I remember Micah
standing on my wheelie bars (one of the perks of having a disabled sister) and
me whipping through the crowd trying find Dave. We saw the dreadlock guy, then
went a bit farther and saw Dave! He was skinny back in those days; he was
barefoot and had his back to us. I got his attention…he was so sweet! I don’t
remember if I said anything besides, “Dave can I please have your autograph?”
